& L-Carnitine HCl is a combination formula featuring two well-known antioxidant nutrients. Antioxidants are substances that help protect healthy cells throughout the body from free radical damage.

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) has been called a “universal antioxidant” because it is effective as an antioxidant in water-based substances such as blood, while its reduced metabolite dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA) is effective in protecting fatty tissues and membranes.*

Acetyl L-Carnitine is the acetyl ester of carnitine, an amino acid derivative, and is distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous system.

ALA and ALC are known as mitochondrial antioxidants that can provide anti-aging nutrition.* Mitochondria are the “power plants” of cells, providing the energy necessary to fuel a broad range of cellular processes.

Seem To Work My rheumatologist suggested alpha lipoic acid and acetyl l-carnatine hci to help with my fatigue. I bought this brand after comparing a few other brands (and it’s cheaper on Amazon than buying direct from Vitacost). These are horse pills (see photo – they are the capsules; I used fish oil pills as a comparison). I have a hard time getting these pills down for whatever reason; they usually either go down crooked or get stuck. I eat food, usually mini marshmallows, as a backup for any pill…

Heartburn Just started taking this product. First time took recommended dosage of 2 capsules and thought I would die from incrediable heart burn. I’ve reduced to 1 capsule and I still have the burn. I normally never have heartburn and can usually eat anything with a problem. I’ve always taken with food. Today, in addition to a full meal, I’m eating yogurt and honey in the hope of reducing distress. Not sure I can finish this bottle. Recommend you buy smallest size to see if you can tolerate.

Morning must Don’t drink coffee anymore. I’ve found if you take too many, the ALA makes you uncontrollably tired. It lowers blood sugar, so you really need to be careful.
